The secretive 3D-imaging sensor company from Yahud near Tel-aviv, Vayyar Imaging, announced a $22 million USD Series B funding round led by Walden Riverwood and included Battery Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Israel Cleantech Ventures (ICV) and Amiti Ventures. The total capital raised to date is $34M USD.

Vayyar Imaging has developed 3D sensing technology base on RF principles. Its semiconductor chip VYYR2491, can manage miniature Radar running through multiple small antennas (MIMO) that transmit and receive weak electromagnetic signals in 3.5GHz-10GHz frequencies.

The VYYR2491 chip extract from the signals information to detect breast or other cancer masses, look through walls to detect structural foundations, and can track a person’s location and vital signs as they move through a Smart Home. Vayyar beleives its powerful sensor technology will revolutionize cancer detection, robotics, and smart home industries.

“Investing in Vayyar Imaging was an obvious choice. 3D imaging sensor technology is the future, and Vayyar is leading the way with its truly revolutionary technology,” said Lip-Bu Tan, Founder, and Chairman, Walden International.

Vayyar Imaging was established in December 2011 by the chairman and CEO Raviv Melamed with VP Research and Development Miri Ratner and CTO,Naftali Chayat. Melamed previously held the role of VP and GM of the Mobile Wireless Group at Intel. Ratner and Chayat previously served in senior management positions at BreezeCOM and Alvarion.

The company has been quietly building its technology and selecting early customers. “We look forward to advancing Vayyar Imaging’s technologies into a new era where low-cost imaging systems can solve major challenges in a variety of different markets,” said Raviv Melamed.

Vayyar Imaging plans to unveil its latest technology at the upcoming 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) January 6-9 inLas Vegas.
