Israeli company Fire & Gas Detection Technologies Ltd. (TASE: FGD) reported impressive results from a series of comparative trials held last week at BakerRisk in Texas — one of the world’s leading fire safety testing facilities. The tests, conducted under the strict standards of the oil and gas industry, were attended by engineers from the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and senior representatives from Chevron. As of midday Wednesday, FGD’s share price on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was up more than 6%, giving the company a market capitalization of roughly ₪235 million.

During the tests, FGD’s flame detectors were evaluated against four leading international models. The results showed a clear performance advantage for the Israeli system, which demonstrated significantly faster detection times and superior resistance to false alarms — even under harsh environmental conditions such as glare, smoke, and light reflections. Out of 30 tests conducted, FGD detectors ranked first in 22. Following the strong results, the company initiated a preliminary dialogue with Chevron to explore potential commercial collaborations.

“Our Texas trial results provide yet another international seal of approval for the capabilities we’ve developed in Israel,” said Haviv Perlman, CEO of Fire & Gas Detection Technologies. “Our detectors are not only faster but also more reliable, cutting costs associated with false activations — in industries where every second truly counts.”

Chevron, one of the world’s largest energy corporations, operates refineries, oil platforms, and natural gas facilities across more than 180 countries. The company has experienced several major fires over the years — including the 2012 Richmond refinery explosion in California — events that have driven the energy sector to invest heavily in advanced fire-detection technologies that enable quicker, more accurate responses and reduce false alarms.

Founded in 2017 and controlled by Israeli businessman Yechiel Spector, Fire & Gas Detection Technologies develops and manufactures advanced optical fire and gas detectors for high-risk industries such as energy, fuel, transportation, and hydrogen. The company combines machine-learning algorithms and real-time data processing with precision optical sensors and currently sells its products in more than 50 countries. Among its clients are Siemens, Fike, Shell, and Tesla. Recently, the company’s flame detectors received formal approval from Shell, a key quality certification that strengthens its position in the global fuel and gas markets. It has also begun supplying detection systems to Western air and naval forces.

According to its latest semiannual report, FGD generated $6.5 million in revenue in the first half of 2025 — a 41% increase year over year. The company operates production and R&D facilities in Israel and a U.S. subsidiary and is expanding its manufacturing capacity ahead of the planned 2026 launch of a new smart gas detector line.

With the successful Texas trials and Chevron’s interest, Fire & Gas Detection Technologies sees this as a potential breakthrough moment — one that could bring its Israeli-made safety innovations to the very core of the global energy industry.
